Atlanta, Georgia. — Today the Atlanta Pride Committee (APC) announced their list of 2021 year-end grant recipients.
The APC's Community Reinvestment Grants (CRG) provide funding and resources to fellow community organizations that align with their mission and strategic goals. This program went into hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but has returned this year with a focus on organizations whose services were significantly impacted by the ongoing pandemic.
Jamie Fergerson, APC Executive Director noted, "The past two years have been challenging. We made the difficult decision to cancel our Atlanta Pride Festival & Parade, our signature event and biggest source of fundraising, for the second year in a row. Despite this disappointment, with the support of the LGBTQ+ community, we have been able to reinvest over $70,000 into important organizations that have suffered greatly due to the pandemic. We used money that would have gone into festival expenses to support over two-dozen organizations that increase well-being and visibility of LGBTQ+ people in our region."
APC Board Chair, Wil Bryant added, "CRGs are at the heart of our mission and speak to our commitment to serve underfunded and marginalized populations by providing funding, resources, and support. By expanding their capacity and amplifying the voices of the recipients, we are moving forward the work of equity for LGBTQ+ individuals throughout our region."
Grant recipients weighed in as well:
"WE ARE SOOOO excited!!!!! Thank you so much for supporting the queer recovery community in Athens. This is going to open up so many doors, we are beyond grateful." said Brandy W. Anderson, Founder & CEO, Acceptance Recovery Center, Inc.
Alex Santiago, Executive Director, The I Am Human Foundation said, "Thank you so much for this opportunity to continue to serve the community. We are honored, humbled and grateful."
The APC is committed to lending their support to those working to uplift the most vulnerable members of Atlanta's LGBTQ+ community.
