The Southern Unity Movement is proud to present the 18th annual Rustin Lorde Breakfast on Monday, January 21, 2019 10AM at the Loudermilk Conference Center (40 Courtland Street Atlanta, GA 30303). Doors open at 9:30AM and breakfast will be served at 10AM.
The theme for the 2019 Breakfast is “What Now: Where Will You Be?” Admission to this event is free and donations are always welcomed.
This message is a direct reference to the classic Pat Parker poem “Where Will You Be?” as a call-to-action for those working for social change. This theme is prompted by our liberation efforts as well as the heightened assaults on our beloved community. As we ask ourselves “What Now: Where Will You Be?” we strive to inspire creative social justice movement building, confront closets and complacency, and identify common vision. We honor the vision of the two activists for whom the Breakfast is named, Bayard Rustin and Audre Lorde.
Our Young People’s Space will include activities for children and teens in attendance. This event is accessible for people with disabilities. Interpreters will be present for those who are hearing impaired. Free parking will be available. Following the Breakfast, participants will assemble at the Martin Luther King, Jr. March and Rally at the corner of Peachtree Street and Ellis Street at 1:15PM. The March will start at 1:45PM. Immediately following the March, the annual rally will be held in front of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Non-Violent Social Change at Auburn Avenue and Jackson Avenue.
We appreciate your support and we sincerely hope you will be joining us at the Breakfast! For more information, please visit us
